Energy Efficiency at IHK Reutlingen
At Preflet GmbH, we are committed to driving energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings through our state-of-the-art AI platform. Our collaboration with IHK Buildings in Reutlingen, Germany, showcases the significant impact of smart energy management.
The Building is a modern, 4,600 sqm office space accommodating 130 occupants. Recognising potential areas for improvement, the building’s management partnered with us to enhance their energy efficiency and sustainability efforts.
Like many European offices, this building faced several energy challenges:
- High energy consumption leading to increased costs and environmental impact
- Difficulty in validating the returns of renewable energy to improve self-sufficiency
- Ensuring occupant comfort without causing energy waste
- Complying with regulatory standards for energy use and carbon emission
The Preflet team agreed engaged with stakeholders of IHK Reutlingen to setup the platform in December 2023. The first step was remotely connecting 5 IoT devices.
After two weeks of self-learning algorithms to understand the building’s energy, our AI-powered energy management platform provided IHK Reutlingen with clear visibility on the following:
- Energy consumption of over 250 MWh at building level every minute
- On-site renewable energy production of 40MW
- Energy systems insights including heat pump split in 2 wings and emergency battery storage
- Carbon emission measurement of Scope 2 and reduction curve
- Benchmarking and Comparative Insights at 3 levels for self-progress, similar buildings, and industry standards
- AI-driven actions to reduce energy use, such as predictive set-point and optimized HVAC scheduling, considering occupancy
- Efficiency measures verification using the IPMVP protocol that compares forecasted consumption against actual reduction.
